Frank Frazetta's Fantastic Worlds

Frank Frazetta, the undisputed king of fantasy art for 50 years, continues to grow in fame even 12 years after his death. His iconic high energy oils featuring characters like Tarzan, Conan, Vampirella, and the Death Dealer not only define fantasy worlds, but also the physical forms within them: fleshy, muscular, tactile, and sensual. In 2023, he was posthumously awarded the Eisner Award for Best Archival Collection. Frazetta's paintings have been breaking auction records, with "Egyptian Queen" selling for $5.4 million in 2019. Finally, the time has come for the ultimate monograph on his work.

Born in Brooklyn in 1928 to a Sicilian immigrant family, Frazetta was a talented minor league athlete and a smooth-talking petty criminal with the looks of a movie star. Despite claiming that he only created art when there was nothing better to do and preferred playing baseball, he began his professional career in comics at the young age of 16. His work in comic strips eventually led him to the infamous EC Comics, and later to creating oil paintings for Tarzan and Conan pulp covers.

Now, Frank Frazetta's legacy is being celebrated with the release of the most comprehensive monograph ever produced on the artist, created in collaboration with the Frazetta family. It is available in English, French, and German editions, and has been honored with the 2023 Eisner Award for Best Archival Collection.
